Restore contacts lost following setting up 'family sharing' in iTunes?

Yesterday after a struggle we were able to successfully add a third family member to our iTunes family sharing network. But, in the process, her entire list of contacts - save a handful - has been deleted. How can she restore the contacts back on her iPhone 6+?

As long as she has her contacts saved in iCloud she can do a restore of her last backup via iTunes. If her contacts where not somehow backed up, then they're gone.
