Relocated Items folder...

I took the step and upgraded my 2014 iMac to Catalina yesterday... but I'm now bumping into the following issue:

- There's a new folder on my desktop now, named 'relocated files'.
This folder contains a few files that I definitely DON'T want to lose... but to be honest I have no idea on where to out them?

How nice of Apple to include a .pdf-file named 'what are relocated items'... however, a serious attempt of how/where to leave the files seems absent.:sarcastic:

If the folder contains a few files that you definitely don't want to lose then drag those files out of the folder into a different folder - Downloads or Documents folder, for example. You can also, transfer those files onto a USB drive or something.

They are app system files that aren’t compatible with Catalina. Moving them would not really be recommended.

But if said files are not compatible with the new OS, what damage would moving them cause? I moved mine to my iCloud folder on both my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini and both are running fine.

Excuse me, Apple, but how stupid is that (I'm having the same 'relocated files' folder on my desktop as the OP described).
1st, it's very nice to tell me that if I want to keep these files, I can move them anywhere. This was quite hard to understand for these kinds of system folders, as also some of my important data folders showed in an identically named 'relocated' folder. So I knew what to do with my documents and pictures (kind of), and that I wanted to keep them. But how can I determine whether or not I will need/ want files eg in 'security-system-library-core services'? Huh?
2ndly, if they are no longer compatible with Catalina, why bothering me with this information, and requesting me to making decisions that I can't make (because I have no clue what these files are good for and whether or not I will need them), and why not simply removing them during the installation process?

Why would a user have app system files, that aren't supported by the operating system, that they wouldn't want to lose? Everything contained in this folder for me were files that had no value or relevance to me considering they were app system files for apps that weren't compatible.

What other file types would find their way into this folder? In other words, how is it that files users wouldn't want to lose would be in this folder considering these files shouldn't be usable by the operating system?

According to the pop up that came with the update, the files in the folder are necessary for some apps, but because they didn’t update with Catalina, either macOS needs to be rolled back or the app must be updated for compatibility. I can only state what Apple gave me to go on.
