Rattling noise when I shake iPhone 3G

I'm not sure if this is just my phone or not, but whenever I shake my iPhone it rattles like there is a piece of broken plastic inside. I've googled this, and found no explanation. I'm still under warranty, and wouldn't mind getting a new iPhone if this is a good excuse. I'll be going to Apple store fairly soon for a new iMac.

Any solutions/explanations?

Either something is broken OR its the silence switch moving a little bit. I know when i first got mine I shook it and was like "oh no" only to realize the sound i heard was just the switch moving slightly.

That's what I thought it was. I put my finger on the silent switch to shake it, and it wasn't that. I honestly thought the accelerometer was a little ball or something! I guess not. Apple said they would give me a free exchange.

Go get it exchanged, something is not right.

I guess I'll have to, its been like that since the beginning but I never thought much about it. Off to the Apple store it is!

Kind of off topic, but when I purchased my iPhone, 16GB was sold out so when I exchange it would I be able to pay the extra $100+tax to get a 16Gb?

I have the same problem and decided to call Apple and was set up with an appointment at the Apple store because the Iphone is not suppose to make any rattling. I was told that they will take a look at it and fix it or swap me a new Iphone 3g.

It is sometimes the silence and sometimes the lock button on top sometimes if you drop it. It gets loose This is what happend to me it is no big deal. But if they are going to give you a new one go for it. I easily fixed mine with some Tools.

-Best of luck!

Apple has by far the best customer service i have ever dealt with, I made a reservation for the apple store on 5th ave in NYC I waited 5 minutes and was then set up with help i described what was going on and was then asked if i wanted a new one they switched my sim card and i was out in no time. Customer service is 150% better than sprint I'm so happy i switched.
