So my phone randomly turned off and it required my to do a reset (hold power and home button). Not sure what happened. It's the first time it's ever happened. Any reason for it? Anything to be concerned about?

It is possible that something became screwed up while communicating with communicating with your wireless provider and/or Apple's servers. Of course, I'm only speculating.

Were you doing anything right before it happened? That might be a clue... As to if you need to worry? Only if it repeats regularly, and/or if when doing a specific task that you can replicate... when that happens, if still under warranty or covered with AppleCare - a visit with a GeniusBar is in order.

I wasn't doing anything when it happened. It was in my pocket and I took it out and it was off. And right before I put it in my pocket I was texting.

Yeah, my guess is still the above, and Keith is right. There's nothing to worry about unless it repeats regularly.
