hello. since acquiring an iPad, i'm convinced i need to dump my BB and get an iPhone.

i'm currently under contract with TMO, so i would need to get a 3GS that's unlocked to be used on TMO. i understand that i won't get the full benefits if i were to run it on ATT.

question is, other than eBay....where's the best place to purchase a brand new iPhone 3GS? local to SoCal would be ideal, i'd like to walk in and pick it up.

thanks!

Also, make sure you know everything there is to about unlocking, e.g. which basebands can be unlocked and which ones can't. Check the Settings - General - About menu of the phone and verify it's un-lockable.

As as far as T-mobile goes, you'll be on Edge and not 3G if you do unlock.

I'm not saying there will be a T-Mo iPhone on June 7th, but honestly there could be. So I'd wait until June 7th first of all to see what goes down, you'll likely want the newer one anyway and the 3GS will get cheaper when the new one is out.

iPhone on tmobile??? AT&T has the exclusivity till 2012, so June 7th will come and go and the iPhone will only be on AT&T.

Not necessarily. Apple signed an agreement in 2007, but it wasn't something that couldn't be changed. Also, AT&T does NOT want exclusivity anymore. They are really sick of the bad press and they want someone else to carry some of the load.

Trust me I know nothing, I'm just a little graphic designer from ye olde Canada. I'm just saying we can't rule it out as a possibility, there are Canadian, European and Australian carriers which use the same frequency, so it wouldn't be as pointless to Apple as making a CDMA iPhone which would essentially only serve Verizon customers in America.
