Purchasing a used Mac Mini - advice

I'm looking at getting myself a Mac Mini for my office. I've always wanted one but could never have one due to the MMPO game I play not having Mac support. Now after many years it's capable of being played on a Mac. The specs to run it are pretty much similar to Windows specs - certain amount of ram, memory, ect. I have a Windows 10 laptop that travels with me and on my desk I have 2-24" monitors and a sound system so a mini would be perfect. What years are good to buy and what upgrades can be done? I've been looking at 2012's and 2014's. Thanks

2012 you can upgrade the Ram and HD to an SSD pretty easy. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+mini+Late+2012+Hard+Drive+Replacement/11716
The 2014 has soldered RAM and it’s a complete pain to get to the HD to change out, 35 steps. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+mini+Late+2014+Hard+Drive+Replacement/32815
I have the 2014 and in retrospect wish I had got the 2012.
