I can’t get my text message with effects to work. When I tap and hold the up arrow nothing happens. It used to! Any ideas on what I need to do to make it work? Thanks.

Working fine for me. Have you tried the usual remedies (i.e. resetting, logging out of iMessage and then back in, etc.)?

I turned my phone off and back on again and I turned off iMessage and then turned it back on. I finally got it to work but it seems like it’s just a matter of touching the up arrow right. Does that make sense?

Yes. You have to force press it.

Yes. You have to force press it.

You'd use touch and hold (or long-press) on an iPhone 6 or older, or on an iPad (basically, anything without 3D Touch). 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s or newer, including the X. (Though I know in accessibility you can turn 3D Touch off, so I assume touch and hold works then.)
