So my friend gave me an ipad mini but under her plan, I guess it's easier to pay that way. When I got it it was opened I guess Verizon did that to activate it. I use primarily wifi on my devices so I told her I had no need for the sim or data plan. But I really don't want to my activity associated with her account.

So I know Verizon account holders can see calls and texts, but can they see anything else? Like apps downloaded, app activity, safari use? Or are there any programs that could have been installed to gain access to that info without me knowing?

If your Apple ID is associated with the "device" AND your friend does not know that information then you *should be* the only person who can view the data on that device minus the SMS and phone calls. At least, that is my understanding, if I read your post correctly. As for apps that spy on you, I'm sure there are but I don't know of any with the exception of the Find My iphone/iPad app and that's limited.

Ok thanks that's what I'm hoping too . I'm not a Verizon customer I don't know what they are capable of or have access too once they activate an apple product under their service.

So I took out the sim just in case and will just wifi from there. I'm hoping that will be enough to maintain privacy of my apple device usage.

Correct. The account holder can only see phone #'s called and phone #'s texted to and from. They would need your apple Id and password to get your apps
