Portrait mode photo

When I click a portrait mode photo on iPhone 8 Plus the format it saves in is .jpg. Doesn’t store it as heic. Is it expected behaviour or It is an issue? All normal photos are stored as heic

Using https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/exif-viewer-by-fluntro/id944118456?mt=8&at=10l3Vy as my Exif viewer.

Thanks for asking this question because it's enabled me to learn something. It's my understanding that HEIC is not yet universally supported. All of my photos are automatically saved as jpg, but that's because I use the mail app, so it sends them as a jpg. By going to Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible, your photos will be saved as jpg. If you want your photos saved as HEIC, then select "High Efficiency" rather than Most Compatible.

It is selected as high efficiency only currently still only portrait photos are stored as jpg but normal photos are stored as heic
