Popping sound heard through earphones (6S, 64GB, Space Grey)

Does anyone else experience popping sounds when using earphones with the 6S?

I checked this issue with multiple earpods even third party ones and the problem persisted so I sort of ruled out the earphones as a potential cause. Got my 6S replaced but the new unit also has this popping sound problem. Really frustrated as I had 3 Genius Bar appointments to finally get it replaced but this issue is still haunting me. Is this issue worth another 3 or more visits to the Apple Store ? Apple Support isn't really supportive for these kind of intermittent issues.

A very old school trick is to grab a Q-tip, dip it in alcohol and clean your headphone jack, HOWEVER, you did get your iPhone replaced, meaning that it's the earphones that has issues.

Might want to get those replaced as well.

Have you tried a pair of wireless Bluetooth headset?

Sounds like something is off.... though it's difficult to pinpoint where if:

1. You've tried multiple earbuds and they all sound the same
2. You've replaced the phone

I guess it's possible that all the earbuds are bad, but I doubt it. Sounds like another Genius Bar appointment is in your future. If they swap the phone again, check the headphone jack before you head out.

If it persists over two phones and multiple earbuds, maybe it's something else. Maybe it's static electricity discharging through the earbuds? Does it coincide with notifications (so it's an app giving a notification using a sound that sounds like a pop)?

Also, don't rule out the possibility of ear-related problems.

I have this problem too. I live in a dry climate and my guess is it's static electricity. Not sure how to prove it or get rid of it though.

Maybe Bluetooth is the way to go .. Is it on all music or specific songs etc ?

Hi there, not sure if you still follow your thread but I faced the exact same issue as you on my 6s 64gb. Intermittent popping sounds when using the phone even when nothing is playing.

After a fews replacements, I went to test the 5s, 6 and 6s demo units at an Apple Store. I could reproduce the same popping sound with the 6s units but not with the 5s and 6. Was told that it is 'expected' and 'normal' behaviour since I've already got multiple replacements. Not a very satisfying answer but I guess we have to live with it.

Not satisfying at all I would say. My 64gb 6s doesn't snap, crackle, OR pop!
