PLEASE HELP-Advice Needed

hey everyone, im thinking of buying the IPHONE 3GS 16GB WHITE ,from the rogers network in Canada,
however if i buy it i will unlock it ,as i travel abroad often, do you recommend unlocking ? will it damage my
device or is there any side effects ?do i have to take any precautions? if there is any bad result what so ever i would appreciate it if you could tell me what it is.

if the procedure is not harmful (cross fingers)..then which software do you reckon i should get for unlocking it??

There are numerous topics and posts covering this. Please search and read like the rest of us did.

Here is some advice. Get familiar with the phone first, all the INS and outs. Do some research for awhile about jailbreaking. Think of all your questions and write them down, about jailbreaking. Then search this forum and you will probably find answers to almost if not all your questions. Don't just jump right into jailbreaking.
