I was trying to listen to music on my phone, it was low in battery and sound wasn't coming through the head phones. So i thought rrestarting the phone would help, so i plugged the phone in to charge and turned it off, then when i tried to turn it back on only the fist apple icon screen comes on then the phone shuts back off.

Any idea what is going on and how i fix it? Please help.
Thank you

Put the phone into DFU mode and restore it in iTunes.

With the phone powered off:

Press and hold Sleep and Home for 10 seconds
Release Sleep, continue holding home for 5 seconds
Release home

Phone should be completely blank, no logo or anything. The phone is on however.

You should've seen the apple logo briefly, then a flicker, then the apple logo again, then the screen should appear to have shut off. Plug into your computer, itunes / windows will recognize it as a phone in recovery mode.

Click the restore button in itunes, wait for it to complete.
