If I have a Kindle and a macbook pro, can I still justify buying the IPAD? Feedback appreciated.

I have a 17" laptop and got a iPad because it's way more portable and the battery life is amazing. At this point I barely use my pc or laptop at home for internet use because it's just quicker to check it on the iPad since it's always on, though it doesn't have flash it's a lot more enjoyable to me.

Yes.

The iPad is the illegitimate child of the Kindle and the MacBook Pro. You can justify its purchase by not having to carry the it's "parents."

I got my iPad and sold the kindle. I can use the iPad for the kindle, nook and iBook apps. It's great! I can have SO many more options as well as PDF file/books. I love my iPad.

The way I think about it is can I afford it? if you have the money and spending it wont put you in a hard spot then you're good. The next thing is will you use it? do you have needs that you know it will fill? I knew exactly the things I wanted to use mine for the minute they announced it. I've hated browsing the web and doing email on my phone at the times I've been bored or had hours that I could do it. I've also found other benefits too, being able to leave my MBP at work 4 days of the week, my back thanks me for that, and also being able to surf, email, play on my iPad while talking on my iPhone or checking an SMS.

Probably not; I bought an iPad and it collects dust. Between my iPhone and MacBook Pro, I have no need for it. I have serious buyers remorse on the iPad, but oh well. Hopefully iOS4 for the iPad will change my feelings.

I say go for it. Like was stated a few post back, if you have the money and its not going to put you in a bind or you dont have to sell your grandmothers teeth and the babies toys to get it then I would put this product on the must buy list. I am a city construction specialist and I use this thing EVERY STANKIN DAY! Its great. It keeps all my notebooks for notes on specific projects, I can surf, keep up with my daily schedule, get my mail in the field...etc etc etc. And thats the great thing with this. As long as your reasonable in your expectations and dont want this to be the new messiah then the "etc" part never end. I would say this a great investment and, for my application in life, has completely replaced my laptop. To each his own though. Deuces.

As some people have stated here already, the first thing is to make sure your budget can afford it. I have an iPhone 4, MacBook and my girlfriend just got me the iPad for our anniversary. It took me 20 min just to open the box because u wanted to makes sure I was really going to use the iPad for the money she spent. ( we got mines from best buy and they charge restocking fees ) then I started remember seeing all the little details that made me want the iPad in the first place... I love how the email, calendar, pics and notes are set up on here. I think they are much more aesthetically pleasing than the iPhone or on the MacBooks. Plus we got the keyboard to go with it so if I needed to do a little bit of longer than normal typing I can dock my iPad and type to my hearts desire. I decided I was going to keep it, as soon as I opened it. Synced my apps and had it up and running I didn't regret it one bit. I know I'll find a great balance for all three items in my life.

As far as you having a kindle, sell it. Once you download all the possible ebook apps available you'll bs sure to find one that suits your needs and you won't even miss the kindle. Hope we can help you decide. And once you do be sure and come back and let us know what you decided on.

For what it's worth, my local Best Buy also "threatens" a restocking fee, but in-practice, with iPads, it is a non-issue.

They are in such high demand and low supply that Best Buy knows they can resell it almost as quickly as you return it. And since there's rarely another to exchange it for, they're against the wall a bit if you tell them you want a different model.

Bottom-line, don't think of the restocking fee as a hard n fast rule, with regard to this particular product at that particular retail chain.

If you can afford it then get it. You'll love the portability and the aesthetics. Keep the macbook pro and sell the Kindle. You wont be needing this if you already have the iPad. Just download the Kindle apps for iPad.
