I upgraded to OSX , and my old iphoto app doesn't work anymore, and there is no photo app replacement on the OSX, in short i'm up the creek with my photos, what can I do now?

When OS X Yosemite was released Apple phased out iPhoto and replaced it with Photos. It should be in your finder under Applications, and it bares the same shortcut icon as Photos in iOS.
