Phone volume issue 3 gs

Hope I am in the right area and apologize if I am not.

I use my iPhone with a tomtom car kit and navigon gps.

All of a sudden I am unable to hear phone calls when phone is in the cradle. Phone volume is fine when holding phone.

Gps volume directions are. Loud and clear and I can increase volume with car kit charger without a problem.
iPod plays fine too.

Only thing that isn't working is hearing the phone ring when placing a call when phone is in the charge cradle. I cannot hear when Simone picks up. If I get a call and press accept I can barely hear. If I hit speaker I can hear somewhat but still not like I use to

I thought it might be the speaker on Tom Tom charger kit but am now thinking it might be phone related. Maybe I hit something or setting that is causing the problem.

Help would be most appreciated or suggestions as where to go for answers.
