So this is a weird issue, and I don’t know if anyone else is experiencing this. My phone is burning the pins off the charging cables. I just bought a brand new one last week and it’s already ruined one side.

Count the pins from the left side

The fifth pin from the left is darker than all the others

I would suspect that one of the pins in the iPhone socket is not making a good electrical contact with the plug causing it to arc. Thus causing the darkening and, I guess, ultimate failure of it.

When you look into the lightening socket, can you see any pin distortion? Or perhaps the pin does not protrude as far.

Either way, I suspect a lightening port issue, not a problem with the lead.

I was suspecting the same thing. I brought it to the Apple store last week and they said they didn’t see anything wrong, but clearly something is when this has happened on multiple cables.

I just checked my cables and this is not happening to mine. I would say your Apple Store got this wrong and I would go back and bring the malfunctioning cables with me. Maybe call Apple and explain the situation as well.
