Hi Fellow Members,

I have an iPhone 6 and I'm getting no where with trying to register the UK Barclays Pingit app. I've tried everything and I get an error code which says there end is picking up old data. I've spent over 500 mins on the phone to them in the last 2 weeks, so I thought I would ask for some help from people that would know more about iPhones. I've given up with UK Barclays as I've been promised calls back when they don't, been told to wait an hour then it will work. I'm getting no where. The last person said that I needed to delete the app from the cloud. I remember how I used to do it back when iCloud first came out. However much has changed. I'm running IOS 10.2. I know how to delete the app data from iCloud, however the app is still there even when the app data is deleted and after an iCloud backup has been run. Plus with the app uninstalled. Peps, this is driving me crazy and there must be an answer.

How do I totally delete the app from iCloud and it's data?

Thanks for reading and for your help upfront.

Kind regards,

1982ollie

it is my understanding that iCloud backs up app data, but not the apps themselves so with that in mind, I don't see how that can be the source of the problem. Did you initially install the app using a different Apple ID? If so, sign in to the iTunes and App Store with that particular Apple ID and then try removing the app and its data. Also, have you tried something as simple as resetting all settings? Heck, if it were me, I'd start from scratch, and completely wipe the device, have iTunes install a fresh copy of iOS and then set it up as new.

Thanks for you reply.

I've tried what you have mentioned above and I've only ever sign in with my Apple ID. When I got the phone it had already been whipped. However I did restore from iCloud.

I'm up from doing a fresh start, however when I go to to install Pingit, it will just download it from the cloud.

Plus if I have to speak to Barclays once more. I'll go insane.

Thanks so much for your reply.

What do you think, after that reply.

Kind regards,

When you say "from the cloud", do you mean from iCloud.com, or from your purchased list in the App Store?

Hi,

I mean from the App Store purchase list. However my understanding is that is not possible to do that m. I've tried everything and I don't want to do a fresh start because I'm worried I will lose my access to my Barclays Banking App?

This is driving me mad. Under the iCloud backup data. I switched the back up off on Pingit after deleting the Pingit app and when I did that it said there was 27kb of data. However after iCloud ran another backup with Pingit switch off. The next day it showed as 17kb, so I re-installed Pingit, tried to register and still I get the bloody error code.

This is driving me mental!! How can I get the iCloud Pingit data down to 0kb from 17kb. If I can do that I may be in with a chance.

I've written a major complaint email to Barclays Pingit and I'm awaiting a response.

If anyone has any ideas I would massively appreciate it!!

Thanks all for taking the time to read this.

Cheers,

No, you cannot delete apps from the Purchased list, but you can "hide" them from being displayed therein.

Also, how will starting from scratch cause you to lose access to your banking app? Can you not reinstall it and then sign into it, if necessary?

I'm nervous of starting from scratch because I had another iPhone before. It was a 6 plus and my banking app worked fine and so did Pingit. Then one day, I think it was when there was an OTA update and then they both stopped working. They where both throwing up error codes saying my old 6 plus was jailbroken when it wasn't and never had been because I don't need a jailbreak these days. Plus my banking app and Pingit are very important to me. Also I found the 6 plus was to big holding against my ear, therefore I sold it and bought this iPhone 6. I'll try with Barclays once more and await a response from my email complaint, then if still no joy. I'll take the plunge and set up as new.

Do you think that's the best choice? ☹️

Thanks again.

I'm a huge supporter of setting up a device as new. In fact, I put my device in DFU mode and have iTunes install a fresh copy of iOS whenever there's a new full iOS release. I honestly believe that it has kept me from experiencing the numerous issues others have experienced. Having said that, do I think it's "your" best choice? I can't really answer that because I only know a portion of the problem, but it is a choice you should consider.
