I thought I read on iMore that it was possible to password protect iMessage but now can’t find the thread. Is it possible, and if so how is it done? TIA

Nah, you saw a screen shot in a thread and it said use your fingerprint to access it.
What you didn’t realize is that it’s just a new way of saying ‘Slide to Unlock to access the file you’re trying to open.’
