original iphone owner.. how much do i pay?

so heres my situation.
i got the first generation iPhone on september 2007
so I'm going to say my contract ends this september.
so i was wondering if I'm eligible for the 199/299 prices or do i have to pay the whole shabang..

i asked someone at the apple store and they told me that since the original iPhone wasn't even subsidized i should be eligible. He even told me that i was even eligible to get the 3G when it came out for the subsidized prices.

so which is is? will i be able to get the 3G S for the 199/299 prices? i just want to make sure because i heard that if your contract isn't finished then you have to pay the full price. and when i tried pre- ordering it online at apples website they said that i have to pay the full price so I'm a bit confused and I'm hoping someone could help me out. alright thanks guys.

You should be eligible. And it's simple to check. Just log into your account on AT&T website and "check eligibility".

you are, because mine was supposed to end in December, but I still qualified for $199/299
