how do i erase 1864 photos from my phone?

If you have a mac you should be able to delete them with iPhoto (you must import them first then select to delete from camera). If you have a PC, your iPhone is treated as a separate drive and you should be able to delete them the same way you would delete files from an external harddrive.

If these are photos you syncd rather than took...just uncheck the box folder you syncd in itunes in the photos tab.
