Only one device sounds and wakes up when a text message arrives (iOS 10)

I have an iPad and iPhone and I have noticed a very annoying behavior since updating them to iOS 10.

When I receive a text message only one of them (depending on which I used last) sounds. That behavior is making me miss text messages because the device that sounds is typically away from me (like for example, iPhone in my room and I am in the kitchen with my iPad). However when I wake up the iPad there's the text message notification on the iPad notification center. (This happens viceversa too, iPad-iPhone.)
