Changing from BB to iPhone 4 was the best. The thing that annoyed me most about BB was surfing the internet. The page would crash every 5 seconds and none of the images would show up and it looked so cheap. Being able to surf the net effortlessly is great on the iPhone

I'm making the Jump later this week from the Blackberry Torch 9800 to iPhone 4. I never thought I'd go (back) to iphone after my first forage into apple with the 3Gs. I was miserable after a month and ended up trading it in for a Bold 9700. After too many issues with the software on the Bold, I traded up to the Torch, excited that I'd have the option of physical keyboard, touch screen and a larg(er) display.

After my 7th handset swap due to either hardware or software issues on each and everyone, I pleaded my case with Rogers and my iphone 4 is in transit.

I thought I couldn't live with BBM and an LED indicator but after all the issues and the fact that most ppl I know barely utilize BBM to contact me anymore, I think I'll survive.

Things are a lil different in ip4 but they are efficient and they work perfectly... no need to battery pull no need to call in to see if rims servers are out or not.

If certain things are not the way you want you can get a solution to it it may not be 100% but will be close enough.

e.g i used various ringers for various items email/im/phone/txt with ip4 no such thing but you jb and do it. Notifications there are a few apps that do the same or even better... then there is lockscreen info for those who need notifications on lock screen... i actually did not buy it as i never liked info on lock screen.

BlackBerry user for 6+ years and just switched last week to a white iPhone 4... I have to admit that I've fallen in LOVE. Still missing BBM and the LED (not so much for the blinking lights, but just for the simplicity of looking down in my bag or car console and seeing I had a notification) but otherwise love it!

Blackberry user for years. I decided on the iPhone over the thunderbolt after hearing the crashing and battery life issues. This thing is phenomenal. After using BB for so long, it's hard to accept a phone that does exactly what it says it's going to all the time.

Honest truths, though, are that typing on BB was waaaY faster and easier, the email system was little better, I cry for BBM because most of my friends still use it, and weirdly enough I miss the LED indicator like everyone else here. Now I have to pic up the phone to see if I missed anything. All in all, though, apple has won my heart.

iPhone > BlackBerry ! It's for sure!

I'm using BlackBerry for my work and iPhone as personal device. Sometimes I swap them and use BlackBerry as my personal device just for testing some. I can definitely say that iPhone is really better for personal use.

Except the BlackBerry Messenger, etc. (generally BIS) there was no positive things which you can compare it with iPhone. Probably iMessage will disappear this difference too.

If we could compare it before iOs 5; we could easily say that the notifications,BBM, OTA Update, etc. were positive things for BlackBerry. But according to iOs 5; iPhone is slightly better than BlackBerry in every single way for me.

Now, I even did not extended my BIS contract and just using my BB as wi-fi. (have to cause of work :) )

I switched from a Torch to an iPhone 4 exactly a week ago today! You can't even compare the two. Even the exact same apps work 100 times better on the iphone than on the torch. No looking back.

I have been using blackberry for quite some time. I finally gave up on my torch after the 15th battery pull didnt fix my problems. I love my iPhone 4.

I also transferred from a Bold 9700 to an iPhone 4. There's some things I miss though. I miss the LED on the front whenever I get a text and the ability to customize the colour of whoever sent me it and the ability to customize sound profiles. I really miss BBM, the girl I like recently got BBM but doesn't have that many texts, we would always BBM each other now I can't do that anymore. But I was really sick of memory draining, very few app selection and constant battery pulls.

BB user for many years, switched to a black iPhone 16GB. The only thing I miss is the LED indicator on email/missed call and BBM. I'm sure with Apple's messenger service coming in with OS5, I'll be a happy camper!
Btw, I'm loving everything else in the iPhone - way superior to a Blackberry. Wish I had migrated earlier.

I had a BB 8330 Curve and a 9550 Storm 2. Compared to the iPhone 4 they look ancient and outdated. The phones needed periodic reboots to maintain performance. The app selection was smaller, but there were some good ones out there, so that was not a deciding factor to switch.

BB over iPhone 4 - more customizable. The theme market is huge and you can change your BB to suit your use easily. It's better as a PHONE. Sound quality and speaker phone sound kick the iPhone to the curb. SMS Messaging is better. Who at Apple thought those idiotic bubbles were a good idea? They are a HUGE waste of screen space. Email is better. iPhone push mail is a joke. It plain doesn't work right. BB hardware keyboards rule. The battery life purely sucks on both devices, but there are aftermarket extended batteries available for the BB. Not for the iPhone. You have to hang a stupid big clunky battery off the bottom of your phone to get more power. Apple says you get tons of talk time, but they are full of it. I talked for an hour and a half on a 95% battery and was down to 40% when I was done. Pathetic. I could talk for hours and play forever on the Storm with a Sedio extended battery installed.

iPhone over BB - that display is AMAZING. I love the Retina display. The apps that are available are a plus. Granted I have yet to find anything on the iPhone that I can't do on the BB, but where BB will have one or two quality apps of a specifc type, the iPhone will have 7 or 8 or so. The touch screen is the first really usable one I've found. The phone is more responsive. It doesn't ever bog down or lock up.

In the end though the MAIN reason I bought an iPhone 4 is because I couldn't get a BB Torch from Verizon. I wanted a Torch so badly I could taste it. BB7 is coming and that looks pretty good. I wanted that hardware keyboard and to keep my investment in apps, and the much better email handling. I live on email, and iPhones push as I said is broken.

You're not missing anything with a Torch, trust me! My family members have quite a few and always get me to fix them or show them how to do certain things on them since they are technically challenged! The phone is junk, my old Storm 2 had a better build quality than that thing! Perhaps the idea was good with touch, keyboard and trackpad but it was executed very poorly! BB phones IMO are just so far behind they seem like a rotary phone in the house! Like I always say, to each their own I guess! Wish you luck on your future BB endeavors! Apple has opened my eyes and made my world a better place!

Yeah, technologically the iPhone is a better phone. Except for the problems I mentioned. I really don't like how the iPhone handles email. I suspect RIMs push mail infrastructure is way better. I really don't like those bubbles in text. That's just dumb, and as far as I can see the only way to fix it is to jailbreak. And that speakerphone is pathetic compared to the Storm.

So, I don't know. They both have their strengths. They both have serious weaknesses.

Count me in as one of the converted. I waited 7 months from the announcement of the PlayBook until April 19th to get mine. It had to be better than the iPad 2, RIM kept saying so. So the 19th arrives and I run off to Best Buy at 6:30 in the morning. Get my PlayBook home and over the next week find it to be at best underwhelming and on occasion hot garbage. So I took it back and there happened to be ONE iPad 2 in the store, hidden behind some MacBooks. I thought 'what have I got to lose, let's give it a shot'. WOW. What a difference. It WORKS as advertised. It has email and auto correction and a calendar. It has more apps available than I'd ever be able to dream of using. I was in love.

I then started thinking that if the iPad is so much better than my PlayBook, maybe the iPhone 4 is that much better than my Torch. So I got one. And there has been no looking back. An iPhone 4 with an iPad 2 and that wifi hotspot are a stellar combo. The BlackBerry Bridge/tether app could only dream of kind of functionality.

Its so nice to be able to say "yes it can do that" rather than " well it can't right now but RIM promises it will with a future update". Very happy with my switch to the iOS family. It just works.

I'm overwhelmed! I am switching from a Blackberry Bold 9700 to Iphone4. I've skimmed through this thread and too much info to sink in at one time.

I basically need to know how to switch over my contacts to my new Iphone 4. I don't care if I can't take my apps...I need to take my saved emails and other saved docs. I'm a novice at this so I need it in simple language. I'm still using aol mail. Only because I've had it for so long and its what everyone has. Thats all I really care to move over.

Thanks anyone that can make it simple for me. I dont have Outlook, but I guess I can download it and set it up if I have to.

AOL still exists? lol...

You will need to have your contacts saved to a central location (outlook, mac mail, etc) in order to sync them with the iPhone...or, have all your contacts saved to your SIM card and then have the store you buy the iPhone 4 from swap them over.

As far as migrating saved emails and documents...that gets a little grey, the email system on the iPhone will be able to link with your AOL account, but as far as moving over old emails and documents, you're going to have to use 3rd party app/s for that (depending on the type of documents you're trying to move over).

If you don't use outlook, you can always sync contacts from your Blackberry Bold with Yahoo, then when you get your iPhone and connect it to iTunes, go to contacts and select the option to sync with yahoo. This will transfer your contacts at least.
