Not getting sound for text alerts

For some reason there isn't a sound for text alerts anymore (iPhone 6). I looked in the settings and the sound is on.

Is there something else I need to check?

Go back into settings and change to any sound to see if it plays to confirm it works sand then back to the one you were using ands if that plays . Depending on what you find you might have to do a reinstall and restore from backup.

What iOS version are you on? Do the alerts not come up at all?

iOS 9, haven't tried yet.

Changed sounds and sent a text from my wife's phone. Heard it. Hopefully it will work now.
