Buyers beware …poor quality housing

Included pics of a 2021 5th generation iPad Pro which retails in NZ for about $2500.
After only 6 months use the coating underneath the pencil comes off on the case as well as on the pencil.
According to the apple forum this is a phenomenon Apple is aware of and in the some countries replace both pencil and or iPad.
Here in Australasia they refuse to help….
If your new cars paint peeled off after 6 month I’m sure the manufacturer would stand by their product .
Will be my last time I spend money on Apple products ….

Hello and welcome to iMore. I'm sorry you're having this issue. I've never seen this before. Can you clarify which model of iPad and which model of the pencil you're having this issue with?

Edited to add: I just realize that you did say what type of iPad it was. Apparently it’s in fifth generation iPad Pro? What model of Apple Pencil are you using?? And yes I agree that you should contact Apple support assuming you haven’t already done so.

Have you reached out to “Apple Support” or an Apple App Store? If not, go ahead and do so.

Yes I have …and after first rejected repair I escalated it and was refused again.this despite some USA customers having received a replacement for both pencil and iPad

You stated the coating underneath the pencil came off and is now on the iPad and the pencil. How much coating? What caused the coating to come off? If the coating came off because of friction then Apple or any other company will more than likely not provide a replacement.
