no sound when receiving a text

any text or phone calls have no sound

Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and make sure you have ringtones set for calls and text.

Also, make sure the volume is turned up and the mute button is not on silent.

I'm assuming this is in regard to an iPhone. If so, check the usual suspects:
1. Mute switch on the side of the device.
2. Do Not Disturb option.
3. Bluetooth connectivity
4. Volume buttons
5. Double check the notifications settings.
