I have biought a new I phone 6 S Plus. I do not get any sound when making or receiving a call but the other side can hear me. Sound is there on speaker phone. Adjustment of external buttons or settings does not help.

1. Is the device connected to a bluetooth earpiece?
2. Is something blocking the speaker at the top?
3. If the device is in a case, remove it from the case. If there's plastic or a screen cover protecting the screen, is it covering the speaker at the top?
If all of the above checks out, make a genius bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store to have them diagnose and fix the problem for you.
