I think it's really sad how Zuckerberg — a person who has been pretty open about his love for all the metaverse literature that's inspired the current VR revival (Snow Crash, Neuromancer etc etc) — completely missed the point of those stories and actively moved to 'own' the metaverse. Apple's distance from that kind of idea is a smart one, and probably more lucrative overall — better to be seen as the 'good guys' in a market space you're trying to build, rather than its overlords!
