no files found

I have a 2012 Chevy Equinox. About 2 weeks ago I started having a problem. I usually connect my iPhone 6s through the USB and I am able to play files off my phone and Pandora. Since about 2 weeks ago after an update everytime I connect my phone to the vehicle the display indicates there is no files found. I tested a different cable and the issue doesn't seem to be the cable I tried using another iPhone 5c which connected without a problem. So I was able to rule out an issue with the vehicles Entertainment System, and believe the problem may be coming from my specific phone. Can anyone help? I called Apple and I went through a soft reboot and reset, but there is no resolution.
