No auto updates to my iPhone

So when iOS 9 was released my wife's update came straight to her iPhone 5c. I had to manually go in and check and got the error message when I tried to download so I had to update through iTunes. This time my wife informed me of the iOS 9.0.1 update that was pushed to her phone and I went in my phone to checks to see if I had the same update and it said my software was up to date. So I hooked my phone up to iTunes and sure enough it said that there was an update available. My question is any idea as to why my phone isn't getting the push notifications.

Sometimes... to manage traffic - they'll roll out notifications in batches... I've always checked for updates before getting notifications myself...
