News app keeps asking for iCloud password

Hi
Have an iPhone 6 and recently updated to iOS 9. Set up the News app by selecting a few channels. But whenever I open it, it keeps asking for my iCloud password. If I click cancel, it seems to be working fine for that moment, but it is asking me for password some time later.

Does anyone else have or had a similar issue. Please direct me what steps you have taken to fix if you have had this kind of issue before.

Is the app storing or backing up data to your iCloud? Check your settings for the app.

Yes I did set it to back up to cloud. I tried switching it off which I guess worked fine. But I think it is on by default and figured it should back up to cloud so it is easy to set up if something happens.

I wouldn't back it up. It's not that big a deal to set up. It also takes space in iCloud. It's odd it asks for the password anyway.
