Newbie quick question

Hi, I'm new here and was wondering how I can fix something. When I'm reading a thread, often certain words will be highlighted in yellow or something, and I can't read those words that are highlighted. Is there any way I can turn that off somehow or change settings so that doesn't happen?

Also are you reading the website via Internet Explorer or Google Chrome? Verify the search box doesn't have data in it...
