I could use detail on this as well and also info on target display mode for making iMac's into monitor's so consider this bumped for detail... fingers crossed. :)

Good news! I was able to get my setup working!

What I wanted:
  • 3 External Displays (DisplayPort)
  • Usb Hub
  • Power for my Macbook Pro 2016
  • 1 Free USB-C port

What Worked

What I Learned

It actually gets pretty warm if you try.
  • A USB-C to DisplayPort adapter will work for a single external display. If you daisy-chain additional monitors, they will mirror the first external. MacOS does not currently support daisy-chaining DisplayPort monitors.

If anyone has found something that works better please let me know.
