I just purchased my first Apple laptop, 2020 MacBook Air M1, 8GB RAM and 256 storage.

Being that I’m new to MacBooks how long can I expect it to get macOS updates. Any other tips or suggestions.

Thanks

There is no real guarantee of how long that a particular model gets updates, but Big Sur is available to the MacBook Air from 2013, and that seems to be how long Apple has recently been providing updates for an entry-level model like the MBA.

Several years, my friend and congratulations on getting your first MacBook. How do you like it thus far?

Congrats! I got my first one in March. From what I’ve heard, they can get updates for some years. I played around on mine and looked through the tips and everything when I first got it. Definitely helped to adjust from a PC

Congrats on getting your MacBook Air! I’m going through all the tips as well. It takes a little adjustment, but it’s amazing.

I already use the M1 Macbook Pro, and now just picked up the Air (16 Gb Ram, 256 HD). I will be using this one for another job and for the Cybersecurity online classes I started. I'm also running Paralles (Windows 11 Preview) - it's such an awesome machine.

Sorry for the delayed response - just super busy. Honestly it's such an awesome machine. Having the 16GB of ram (seemingly) makes a noticeable difference vs. the 8GB in the Pro even though I'm just using a few VM's, 20+ Chrome tabs and a the "normal" amounts of email and other Office 365 documents.
