New Mac Pro video card questions

iMore Question

Hi there,
Does the HDMI port on the brand new Mac Pro mean that a video card (AJA Kona or Blackmagic) isn't needed anymore for monitoring?

The HDMI port is a means for you watch videos that are played on your MacBook on an external display or TV that has an HDMI IN port. I don't know the internals of the MacBook, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was not part of the built-in video card/video connector. Having said that, an external video card is NOT needed for monitoring, if I understand your question.

Mainly because you are running audio and video through one cable when using an HDMI and that is why it is not neccessary.
