Yes, they will fit. I'm using the one that I had on my iPad 2 and the fit is perfect.

I never had one on my iPad 1 without issue, do you think one is needed for the 3?

In both cases I have them in a full case. (CEO from Marware)

The screen itself is the same so if you were OK without one on the fist iPad you should be fine without one on the 3.
