I have both and personally, the 9.7 collects dust lol. Your mileage may vary though.

Do it! It's great. At first I was going to go bigger. Then I said to myself. Where will I bring that. Do I really want to bring the attention to myself and it's so big. I wouldn't even know how to carry it around. (I don't like carrying messenger bags or back packs).

I have the 9.7" 128gb wi fi + cellular. Bought it the first day it was released. Almost took it back to exchange it for the 256gb one but I didn't. Still think about the 12.9" one sometimes. I'm waiting for the new ones to be released before I buy maybe the big one. It all depends on the so called middle one, the 10 inch something one.

I don't have the pencil - YET. Not really sure I would have that much use for it. Maybe after the holidays

Bought the pencil in March when I got the smaller Pro. Returned about a week later and than bought it again in May, still mostly sits in the box. Haven't really found a use for it yet.
