Netflix is offering some content without subscription – but not on iPhone

My Netflix subscription expired last week and I haven't gotten around to renewing. I have gotten a minimum of 2-3 emails from them daily. I don't ever recall that happening before. I wonder what's up with Netflix. Are they in trouble? I can't imagine that to be the case, but still...!
