My phone suddenly starts ringing but there's no number displayed nor any missed call registered

Of late very frequently my I Phone 4 starts ringing on its own. But there's no phone no. displayed on the screen. So I can't receive the call. Nor is there any missed call registered. It's very eerie. Can you help?

Is it possible that it is calendar or reminder notification set with a "ringtone"?
