My new iPad Pro 9.7 has frozen, how do I do a hard reset?

The screen is frozen white, I have tried restarting it with no luck. Will performing a hard reset fix the problem? How can I do one?

A hard reset is basically the same as a restart.
Hold the top or side power/sleep button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release.
