I am pretty sure I need to reinstall the original operating system. My son accidentally erased some original components. The G4 model is A1133.

Do you have the original discs that came with it? That model is rather old and I'd rather use the original software for it for performance. Do you remember what OSX version you had?

This particular iBook belongs to my granddaughter. She does not have the original disks. The operating system is O SX 10.5.8
I am unable to collect important information due to recently deleted files. I have located Apple iMac OS X 10.5.6 Installation DVD + Applications DVD - 2009, but have already ordered two different programs that were not compatible. I am hesitant to try again.

Which two did you order? If you had 10.5.8 then 10.5.6 would be fine.

I ordered 10.5.8 and received 10.6 from both places. They would not install on the iBook

I believe that model actually came with OS X Tiger which is 10.4. I had the same laptop before upgrading and it came with Tiger.
