Ipod locked on clock screen and asking for a 4digit password i dont have

This is my daughters she was messing with something clicked on it and now it is locked on the clock screen and when we try to get out of it it comes up with a 4 digit box for a password daughter say she did add a password so at this time don't know what to do

So the daughter admits to adding a pass code and now she can't remember it? Is that correct?
