My I phone 6 will not turn on because a sub cord and iTunes app appears on screen

My I phone 6 turns on and shows the apple symbol then fades to black and then a usb cord shows with a iTunes app above cord on screen. It stays on with that display and will not allow me to actually power on my phone so I can use it. What's going on?

The device is in recovery mode. Connect it to your computer and restore it via iTunes to get it working properly again.
