my iphone5 will charge with cable but won't connect to computer

I just got a phone5 from net10 it will charge when I hook to my laptop but when I connect to iTunes its not showing my phone so I can sync to get my music. I had my daughter plug hers in and it was found immediately with no problem. Im using windows 8. I searched for drivers and still nothing I know they are there because her ipod connected.

Unless the cable is defective, assume you have a defective iPhone 5, and since you stated that you "just got" it from net10, take it back and swap it out for another one.
