My iPhone 4s is dead and it wont charge. What do i do?

So my iPhone 4s's battery drained the other day so I tried to charge it. It sows the battery bar but wont charge. I have left it to charge for half an hour and nothing has happened. I have tried charging it from my computer and nothing has happened. Is this common and is it fixable?

While plugged in to a wall socket, press both the home and power buttons until you see the  logo.
