Ipad seems locked up

I was down loading new update program from apple. the screen is now locked up and down load bar has stopped short of the end of the line

If you're still stuck... push/hold both the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on screen - then let go... if it comes back to life with a 'connect to iTunes' message on screen... do that...
