My iPad air won't clear a downloaded app from the App Store

How do I clear a downloaded app on the app screen?

What do you mean "clear" the app? Are you trying to delete the app from the device? Or is it showing up in the app store for an update?

If it is the latter just tap and open the app store app and tap where you see the red update and it will go away on the outside of the app and the badge will clear.
