my iPad 2 air is stuck on updating cloud settings. how do I bail?

I am setting up a new iPad 2 air. I tried to restore backup from old iPad but new iPad couldn't locate old one, so I went to set up as new ipad. now it is stuck on "updating cloud settings" How do I clear it and start fresh?

i would hold home and power until it reboots and see what happens
