My husband has locked the sound. How can I unlock it?

There is a picture of a lock on the top of the screen. How can I get the sound back?

If the lock is circled with an arrow, that has nothing to do with the sound. That is the screen orientation lock.

Check the following:

1. Make sure the MUTE switch is in the UP position on the side of the device.
2. Make sure the DO NOT DISTURB feature is enabled. You will see an icon of the half moon at the top of the screen, if enabled.
3. Check the volume buttons
