Reboot your iPad and try again. Also make sure the volume level is up when your earphones are inserted.

Try just using the speakers on the device rather than headphones.

Other than a restoring your device and setting it up as new, I recommend you make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store.

Try blowing into the headphone jack as there may be some debris in there. Make sure the headphones are fully plugged into the jack.

Have you tried another set of headphones?

If so, and it still doesn't work, and you're unwilling to restore the device and can't return it...you're pretty much sh*t out of luck.

You just lost all credibility in this thread, in my opinion. All advice given was met with an excuse. There is nothing left for us to advise you on but, if by chance your dilemma is real, I hope the problem corrects itself soon. Take care.

Just plug the iPad into your computer and click the restore button. That's all it takes.
