My face time isn't working out

When someone calls me, it rings and I pick but it shows connecting , when I try calling them back ,they pick it up then it shows connecting ,why is it like this

does it ever connect ? facetime uses data so it has to make a connection

The connection is not immediate. Wait for the connection to complete.
